M8G1: (A).Investigate charateristics of parallel and perpendicular lines both algebraically and geometrically

Perpendicularl lines are at right angles (90 degrees) to each other. Parallel lines are always the same distance from each other and they never meet.

M8D1:(C) Use set notation denote elements of a set

A set, informally, is a collection of things. The "things" in the set are called the "elements", and are listed inside curly braces. Example, {pillow, rumpled bedspread, a stuffed animal, one very fat cat who's taking a nap}

M8D1: (A) Demonstrate relationships among sets through use of Venn diagrams

  1. What is the set of the factors of 12 and 0?

M8N1: (G) Simplify , add, subtract, multiply, and divide espressions containing square roots

M8N1:(J) Express and use numbers in scientific notation

M8A5:(C) Graph the solution set of a system of liner inequalities in two variables

     b. Solve systems of equations algebraically and graphically
*To check your answer substitute the x and y values into one of the equations.

M8A5:(B) Solve systems of equations algebracally and graphically

(ax+by=c) -ex. -2x+3y=8, for this equation you multiply -3 on both sides, 9x-3y=-15, this will eliminate your threes -2x+3y=8         next you will have 7x=7 divide 7 on both sides 7x=7    your 7s will be eliminated this
           9x-3y=-15                                                                             7    7
will leave you with your first solution x=-1.........next you subsitute in -2(-1)+3y=8, two negatives cancel out so you get 2+3y=8 next you will have 3y+6 divide 3 on both sides and get y=2 your coordinates are (-1,2) when you graph -1 is on your x and 2 is on your y

M8A4:(C) Graph equations of the form y=mx+b

Y=MX + B

  1. What is the y-intercept of the line y = mx + b?
  2. How do you use the slope of a line to assist in graphing?
  3.
